Google recently made some changes to their access controls, and for some of our partners, this has created issues with accessing Unrulr.
What are the symptoms of a Google access control issue?
If you see a message like
Access Blocked: Your institution’s admin needs to review Unrulr.
If you are a developer of Unrulr, see error details. Error 400: access_not_configured.
that's a sign we're on the right track!
That's not what we're seeing
If you don't see that message, double check the following:
- Does the user actually have an account in Unrulr?
- Is their email correct?
- Are they in at least one group?
So how do we fix the Google access error?
Google has a published article on the steps needed to fix this. Unfortunately, we haven't yet been able to verify this process works, as the "App access control card", mentioned in step 2, doesn't show up for us. However, this might be because we don't ourselves, as an organization, have any employees under the age of 18. So it might work for you! And if it does, please let us know at email@example.com :)
This is a series of 5 steps that we have tested and confirmed as working.
This link goes directly to the list of apps which your users have access to: https://admin.google.com/ac/owl/list?tab=apps
1. Tap the "Add a filter button"
2. Type in "Unrulr", and select the App name contains "Unrulr" option
3. Hover over a row and hit the "Change access" button
4. Select "unrulr.com (all users)"
5. Select "Trusted"
6. Hit "Change access"
That should do it!
If any issues come up during this process, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
